The purpose of the Nucleus of Studies in Software Defined Networks (NERDS) is to provide a computational environment and basic infrastructure that support the development of software applications defined networks. The implementation of the NERDS was made possible by UFES funds and research projects funded by the CNPq and FAPES development agencies. The laboratory is located in the Technological Center (CT-VI) rooms 102/104/106, occupying an area of 174 m². It has adequate physical space and furniture for the development of cloud computing research activities, virtualization and programmable datacenter networks.
Currently, NERDS works in projects related to the scientific community named: FOOTBALL; Towards Open, Programmable, and Software Defined DataCenter Networks; Scheduling of Wireless Links for Data Collection in Sensor Networks. In addition to working on a technological research project called NosFVeraTO, a Working Group funded by RNP.
